Many adults feel the pull to return to music, or to start for the first time, but hesitate, thinking they’ve missed their moment. In reality, adult learners bring curiosity, life experience, and a deeper sense of intention to music-making.

Learning or returning to an instrument can be deeply rewarding: it sharpens the mind, relieves stress, builds confidence, and provides a creative space that belongs entirely to you. Music at this stage of life isn’t about pressure or comparison—it’s about enjoyment, expression, and reconnecting with something meaningful.

When you choose to work with me, you’ll find a teacher who understands both the discipline of high-level musicianship and the freedom that makes music truly satisfying. My background as a professional classical and jazz musician means I can support you whether you want clear structure, creative exploration, or a blend of both. Lessons are relaxed, encouraging, and tailored entirely around you – your goals, your pace, and your musical interests. Grade exams are always optional: they can be a motivating milestone if you want them, but they are never the measure of success unless they serve your aims.

I also work with adult musicians who are already confident players but want to refine their technique, expand their repertoire, learn new skills, or take up a second (or third) instrument. Whether you’re looking to sharpen fundamentals, explore new styles, develop improvisation, or “double” on another instrument, I can help you set clear goals and progress efficiently while keeping the process enjoyable and musically fulfilling.

Together, we’ll explore repertoire that excites and inspires you. As we work, I’ll help you discover—or further define—your musical voice: what you’re drawn to, how you like to express yourself, and what kind of music feels right in your hands and ears. That understanding shapes the pieces we choose to study, ensuring your repertoire feels personal rather than prescriptive.

If your ambition is to play with others, I can also help you find bands, ensembles, or groups that suit your interests and experience. Alternatively, if your goal is simply to live in the moment and make music for your own enjoyment, I’ll support you in creating, improvising, and playing purely for the joy of it. Above all, fun comes first, with individuality growing naturally alongside it.
